Target Information
MAP2K4 (MEK4) is a serine/threonine kinase of the STE7 family that phosphorylates and activates JNK1, JNK2, and p38. It preferentially phosphorylates tyrosine residues of JNKs and plays a role in cellular stress and inflammatory cytokine responses.
MAP2K4 is implicated in carcinogenesis; loss-of-function mutations have been found in lung and pancreatic tumors, while pro-oncogenic roles have also been reported.
