Target Information
Mucin 13 is an epithelial transmembrane protein containing an extracellular SEA domain associated with O-glycosylation. SEA-modules are found in various proteins such as agrin, enterokinase, perlecan, mucin 1, and others. These proteins are typically located in heavily glycosylated environments and often contain O-glycosidic-linked carbohydrates like heparan sulphate, contributing to their molecular mass. The SEA module may play a role in mediating interactions with neighboring carbohydrate moieties. Enterokinase, for example, is a mosaic protease composed of multiple distinctive domains.
