Podocin은 NPHS2 유전자에서 발현되는 단백질로, SRN1 병리적 상태와 밀접한 관련이 있습니다. Podocin 의존성 신호 전달 이상은 사구체세포 기능 장애와 단백뇨를 유발합니다.
NPHS2 유전자는 염색체 1q25-q31에 위치하며, 383 아미노산으로 구성된 막 단백질을 암호화합니다. Podocin은 hairpin 구조를 가지며, stomatin 계열 단백질과 상동성을 공유합니다.
Podocin의 고차 올리고머 형태는 신장 사구체 여과 장벽의 안정성 유지에 필요한 scaffold 기능을 수행할 가능성이 있습니다.
