Target Information
ATP-dependent microtubule severing protein. Severs microtubules along their length and depolymerizes their ends, primarily the minus-end, which may suppress microtubule growth and attachment to centrosomes. This severing promotes rapid reorganization of cellular microtubule arrays and release from centrosomes after nucleation. Release from mitotic spindle poles may enable depolymerization of proximal microtubule ends, contributing to poleward flux and chromosome motion.
