Target Information
Peroxiredoxin (Prx) is a peroxidase family involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Mammalian Prx includes six members categorized into typical 2-Cys, atypical 2-Cys, and 1-Cys subgroups.
- Prx I, II, and VI: Cytosolic localization
- Prx III: Mitochondrial localization
- Prx IV: Endoplasmic reticulum and secretion
- Prx V: Distributed in peroxisome, mitochondria, and cytosol
These proteins (20–30 kDa) exhibit thioredoxin-dependent peroxidase activity using thioredoxin, thioredoxin reductase, and NADPH as reducing systems.
