Target Information
Rabies virus glycoprotein attaches the virus to host cellular receptors and induces endocytosis of the virion. Acidic pH in the endosome triggers conformational changes in the glycoprotein trimer, leading to membrane fusion. The muscular form of nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR), neuronal cell adhesion molecule (NCAM), and p75 neurotrophin receptor (p75NTR) are known to bind glycoprotein G, facilitating rabies virus entry into cells.
