Target Information
PDHB (Pyruvate dehydrogenase E1 component subunit beta, mitochondrial), also known as PHE1B, is a mitochondrial enzyme that forms part of the pyruvate dehydrogenase multienzyme complex (PDH).
It catalyzes the first reaction of the oxidative decarboxylation sequence converting pyruvate to acetyl-CoA and CO₂.
Defects in PDHB are associated with pyruvate dehydrogenase E1-beta deficiency (PDHBD).
