Description
Bonded phases, originally developed for capillary columns, significantly enhance column quality. Restek bonded-phase packed columns bridge the gap between traditional packed and capillary columns, offering shorter conditioning times, lower bleed, and longer lifetimes.
During manufacturing, solvent rinsing removes low molecular weight polymer fragments that cause extended conditioning times. Bonded packings typically stabilize within 30 minutes. The lower bleed allows detectors to operate at higher sensitivities, minimizing the need for bleed compensation.
Bonded phases are also more durable than nonbonded ones. Due to strong intermolecular cross-linking, they resist oxidation and prevent phase sagging, ensuring stable long-term performance.
