Target Information
GPCR G2A is a G-protein linked receptor for lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC). It may act as a sensor of LPC levels at sites of inflammation to limit tissue-infiltrating cells and the progression of autoimmune diseases. It functions at the G2/M checkpoint to delay mitosis and may help T and B cells slow proliferation and repair DNA damage. Expression is high in macrophages and lymphocyte-rich tissues such as spleen and thymus, and low in heart and lung. In atherosclerotic plaques, expression is observed around the lipid core and shoulder region. It is induced by DNA-damaging agents.
