리보솜은 단백질 합성을 촉매하는 세포 소기관으로, 작은 40S 소단위와 큰 60S 소단위로 구성됩니다. 두 소단위는 4종의 RNA와 약 80개의 구조적으로 구별되는 단백질로 이루어져 있습니다. RPS24는 40S 소단위의 구성 성분으로, S24E 리보솜 단백질 패밀리에 속하며 세포질에 위치합니다. 이 유전자는 여러 전사 변이체를 가지며, 다양한 아이소폼을 암호화합니다. 또한 여러 가공된 유사유전자가 게놈 전반에 분포합니다.
