Target Information

MORF4L2 is a protein coding gene and a component of the NuA4 histone acetyltransferase complex, which is involved in transcriptional activation of select genes primarily through acetylation of nucleosomal histone H4 and H2A. This modification can alter nucleosome–DNA interactions and promote binding of modified histones with transcription-regulating proteins. The complex is associated with transcriptional activation linked to oncogene and proto-oncogene mediated growth, tumor suppressor-induced growth arrest, replicative senescence, apoptosis, and DNA repair.
The NuA4 complex’s ATPase and helicase activities are contributed, at least in part, by RUVBL1 and RUVBL2 association with EP400. NuA4 may also directly participate in DNA repair when recruited to damage sites. MORF4L2 is also a component of the MSIN3A complex, which represses transcription via deacetylation of nucleosomal histones.
