이 단백질군에는 인간을 포함한 여러 생물의 게놈에서 유래된 piggyBac 전이요소 관련 유전자가 포함되어 있습니다.
PGBD3는 piggyBac transposable element derived (PGBD) 유전자 아군에 속하며, 다른 알려진 전이효소나 단백질 군과 명확한 연관성이 없는 새로운 단백질로 보입니다.
이 유전자는 염색체 10의 ERCC6 유전자와 겹치며, 염색체 4, 5, 12에서 이 위치의 가성유전자(pseudogene)가 발견되었습니다.
