For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

Lens proteins consist almost entirely of crystallins (about 95%), which are also found in vertebrate skeletal muscle tissue. In the lens, crystallins maintain the proper refractive index and structural integrity.
Mammalian lenses contain three major classes of crystallins: alpha, beta, and gamma.

• Alpha-crystallin: composed of alpha-A and alpha-B subunits; accounts for ~40% of total lens protein.
• Functions as a molecular chaperone, preventing protein aggregation that may lead to cataract formation.
• Phosphorylated forms of alpha-crystallin are associated with cellular stress responses and protein maintenance.
• Alpha-B crystallin has been linked to Alexander’s disease, accumulating in brain cells of affected individuals.
