Target Information
The Betatrophin protein, also known as hepatocellular carcinoma-associated protein TD26, is an adipocyte- and liver-enriched insulin-targeted gene involved in lipid metabolism by regulating serum triglyceride levels. It is closely related to the angiopoietin-like (ANGPTL) protein family. Betatrophin mRNA increases in cold environments and after high-fat diet treatment, while its levels decrease during fasting, suggesting a role in thermogenesis and energy homeostasis.
