Iduronate-2-sulfatase는 lysosomal 내에서 heparan sulfate 및 dermatan sulfate의 분해에 필수적인 효소입니다.
이 효소의 결핍을 초래하는 X 염색체상의 유전자 변이는 Mucopolysaccharidosis Type II (Hunter Syndrome)로 알려진 질환을 유발합니다.
Iduronate-2-sulfatase는 인간 arylsulfatases A, B, C 및 glucosamine-6-sulfatase와 높은 서열 유사성을 가지며, 다양한 스플라이싱 변이체가 보고되어 있습니다.
