FBXO6 유전자는 약 40개의 아미노산으로 구성된 F-box 모티프를 포함하는 F-box 단백질 패밀리에 속합니다.
이 단백질들은 SKP1-cullin-F-box (SCF) 복합체의 서브유닛으로 작용하며, 인산화 의존적 유비퀴틴화 과정에 관여합니다.
F-box 단백질은 구조적 특징에 따라 Fbws (WD-40 도메인 포함), Fbls (leucine-rich repeat 포함), Fbxs (기타 단백질-단백질 상호작용 모듈 포함 또는 인식 가능한 모티프 없음)로 분류됩니다.
FBXO6 단백질은 Fbxs 클래스에 속하며, C-말단 영역은 rat NFB42 (neural F Box 42 kDa)와 높은 유사성을 보여 세포 주기 조절에 관여할 가능성이 있습니다.
