Target Information
IEX-1 is a stress-inducible gene activated by ionizing radiation, ultraviolet radiation, and various growth factors such as FAS and TNF-α. It is widely expressed in epithelial, endocrine, and vascular endothelial tissues. IEX-1 regulates cellular growth, apoptosis, and oncogenesis, and is controlled by transcription factors including p53, NF-kappa-B/rel, Sp1, and c-Myc. It exists as two forms: IEX1L and splice variant IEX1S, localized to the nucleus and perinuclear region. Overexpression promotes apoptosis and cell cycle progression, while disruption reduces both.
