Invitrogen™ FluoSpheres™ NeutrAvidin™-Labeled Microspheres

1.0 μm, Yellow-Green Fluorescent (505/515), 1% Solids

FluoSpheres™ microspheres are spherical polystyrene particles in the colloidal size range, used for fluorescence microscopy and analytical calibration. These high-quality, ultraclean beads are loaded with proprietary dyes that exhibit strong fluorescence and minimal photobleaching under intense excitation.

Different surface modifications are available to enable coupling of various biomolecules to the bead surface.

Characteristics of the Various FluoSpheres™ Coupling Surfaces

  • Carboxylate-modified: High density of carboxylic acids for covalent coupling using carbodiimide reagents (e.g., EDAC).
  • Sulfate-modified: Hydrophobic particles that adsorb proteins passively and nearly irreversibly.
  • Aldehyde-sulfate-modified: Aldehyde groups react with proteins and amines under mild conditions.
  • Amine-modified: Reactive toward amine-reactive molecules, succinimidyl esters, isothiocyanates, and carboxylic acids.

Key Applications of Microspheres

  • Instrument calibration (flow cytometry, microscopy, HTS, HCS)
  • Flow testing (microfluidics, blood flow, water flow, air flow)
  • Cell biology tracers (cell differentiation and tracing)
  • Immunoassays (agglutination tests, ELISA, particle capture, contrast reagents)

Choices for FluoSpheres™ Fluorescent Microspheres

Available in:

  • Ten fluorescent colors
  • Ten nominal bead diameters (0.02 μm to 15.0 μm)
  • Four surface modifications for protein coupling: carboxylate, sulfate, aldehyde-sulfate, amine
  • Precoupled versions with streptavidin, NeutrAvidin, biotin, europium, and platinum

Choices for Unstained Microspheres

Hundreds of UltraClean™ surfactant-free microspheres are available for research and commercial applications.
