Target Information
Type I interferons (IFN-alpha and IFN-beta) are structurally and functionally related proteins induced by viruses or double-stranded RNA, conferring antiviral states in cells.
IFN-alpha and IFN-beta compete for a common cell surface receptor, while IFN-gamma binds to a distinct receptor.
IFN-alpha/betaR exists as two alternatively spliced transcripts, IFN-alpha/betaR1 and IFN-alpha/betaR2, both involved in signal transduction and ligand binding.
