Description

Bonded phases in capillary columns significantly improve column quality. Restek developed bonded liquid phases for packed columns to bridge the gap between traditional packed and capillary columns. These bonded-phase packed columns offer shorter conditioning times, lower bleed, and longer lifetimes.

During manufacturing, solvent rinsing removes low molecular weight polymer fragments that cause long conditioning cycles. Restek bonded packings typically stabilize within 30 minutes. Lower bleed allows detectors to operate at higher sensitivities and reduces the need for data system bleed compensation.

Bonded phases are more resistant to oxidation and deformation than nonbonded phases due to strong intermolecular cross-linking forces. This ensures the phase remains stable and durable throughout extended use.
