Target Information
Protein NUMB homolog is an evolutionarily conserved protein that regulates neuronal progenitor cell differentiation.
NUMB functions in clathrin-dependent endocytosis through interaction with the AP-2 complex.
It is expressed in postmitotic neurons and involved in axonal growth.
Neural cells expressing Numb isoforms with short phosphotyrosine-binding (SPTB) domains show extensive neurite outgrowth, which can be inhibited by voltage-gated Ca²⁺ channel blockers or Ca²⁺ chelators.
