14-3-3 eta 단백질은 phosphoserine을 포함하는 단백질에 결합하여 신호전달을 매개하는 14-3-3 단백질 패밀리에 속합니다. 이 단백질은 식물과 포유류 모두에서 높은 보존성을 가지며, mouse, rat, bovine orthologs와 99% 동일합니다.
해당 유전자는 5’ UTR에 7 bp 반복 서열을 포함하며, 반복 수의 변화가 조기 발병형 정신분열증과 관련이 있는 것으로 보고되었습니다.
