Calpain 1 (CAPN1)는 칼슘 활성화 중성 프로테아제 계열에 속하는 비리소좀성 세포내 시스테인 프로테아제입니다. 포유류의 칼페인에는 범용, 위 특이적, 근육 특이적 단백질이 포함됩니다. 범용 효소는 서로 다른 큰 촉매 서브유닛과 공통의 작은 조절 서브유닛으로 구성된 이합체 형태를 가집니다. 이 유전자는 범용 효소인 Calpain 1의 큰 서브유닛을 암호화하며, 두 가지 다른 아이소폼을 인코딩하는 여러 전사 변형이 보고되었습니다. CAPN1 관련 질환으로는 Spastic Paraplegia 76, Autosomal Recessive 및 Spasticity가 있습니다.
