Glutamine Synthetase antibody is purified from monospecific antiserum by a multi-step process including delipidation, salt fractionation, and ion exchange chromatography, followed by extensive dialysis.
Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Peroxidase, anti-Goat Serum, and purified Glutamine Synthetase (Microbial).
Cross-reactivity against Glutamine Synthetase from other sources is unknown.

Target Information

Glutamine synthase belongs to the glutamine synthetase family. It plays a key role in ammonia incorporation through glutamate dehydrogenase and glutamine synthase activity.
Glutamate serves as both a nitrogen donor and acceptor, regulating metabolic processes and neurotransmitter balance.
GS activity is controlled by adenylylation and is reduced in the cerebral cortex of Alzheimer’s disease patients and under glucose deprivation conditions.
