Target Information
The CFHR3 gene encodes a secreted protein belonging to the complement factor H-related protein family. It binds to heparin and may play a role in complement regulation. Mutations in CFHR3 are associated with a decreased risk of age-related macular degeneration and an increased risk of atypical hemolytic-uremic syndrome. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
