Target Information
This gene encodes a ubiquitously expressed nuclear protein belonging to a highly conserved subfamily of WD-repeat proteins. It participates in protein complexes involved in histone acetylation and chromatin assembly, including the Mi-2 complex associated with chromatin remodeling and transcriptional repression. The encoded protein is part of co-repressor complexes contributing to transcriptional silencing and interacts with retinoblastoma protein to regulate cell proliferation. It also plays a role in transcriptional repression of E2F-responsive genes. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
