Target Information
The 20S proteasome is a protease complex responsible for cytosolic protein degradation and generation of peptide ligands for MHC class I molecules. Upon IFN-gamma stimulation, subunits LMP2, LMP7, and MECL-1 (LMP10) replace constitutive subunits to form immunoproteasomes. These complexes enhance antigen processing and presentation efficiency. Different combinations of these subunits can result in up to 36 proteasome subsets with distinct cleavage specificities.
