Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the IMD (IRSp53/MIM homology domain) family. Members of this family are divided into IRSp53-like and MIM-like groups based on the presence or absence of the SH3 domain. The encoded protein contains a conserved IMD (F-actin bundling domain) at the N-terminus and a canonical SH3 domain near the C-terminus, classifying it as IRSp53-like. It acts as a substrate for insulin receptor tyrosine kinase and binds to the small GTPase Rac. This protein participates in signal transduction pathways linking plasma membrane deformation to actin cytoskeleton remodeling, promoting actin assembly and membrane protrusions, and is essential for actin assembly complex formation during EHEC pedestal formation.
