Target Information
Abatacept, also known as Orencia, is a medication used for the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. It works by interfering with T-cell immune activity, helping to manage these conditions.
This fusion protein combines the extracellular domain of CTLA-4 with the Fc region of immunoglobulin IgG1.
Abatacept is used as a second-line treatment for moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and as a first-line treatment for severe, rapidly progressing RA. It is also prescribed for psoriatic arthritis and juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
