Target Information
Synaptic Ras-GTPase activating protein (SynGAP) is a PDZ-domain interacting protein expressed almost exclusively in the brain.
SynGAP is a major component of the postsynaptic density and associates with PSD-95 and NMDA receptors.
Its Ras-GTPase activity is inhibited by phosphorylation by CaM kinase II.
SynGAP is proposed to function as a negative regulator of MAP kinase activation in the absence of active NMDA receptors.
