Target Information
Fibulin 5 is essential for elastic fiber formation and is involved in the assembly of continuous elastin (ELN) polymer. It promotes the interaction of microfibrils and ELN, stabilizing and organizing elastic fibers in the skin, lung, and vasculature. It also promotes adhesion of endothelial cells via integrin interaction and the RGD motif, acting as a vascular ligand that may play a role in vascular development and remodeling.
