PTF1A는 췌장 전사 인자 1 복합체의 구성 요소로, 포유류 췌장 발달에 중요한 역할을 합니다. 이 단백질은 췌장 싹세포가 췌장 기관 발생을 계속할지 또는 십이지장 세포 운명으로 되돌아갈지를 결정하는 데 관여합니다. 또한 외분비 췌장 특이적 유전자(예: elastase 1, amylase)의 발현 유지에 관여하며, 유전자 돌연변이는 소뇌 무형성증을 유발하고, ductal type 췌장암에서 발현 소실이 관찰됩니다.
