Target Information
APOL1 is a secreted high-density lipoprotein that binds to apolipoprotein A-I, a major apoprotein of HDL. It promotes cholesterol efflux from cells and is involved in cholesteryl ester formation. The apolipoprotein L family may play a role in lipid exchange and transport throughout the body, as well as in reverse cholesterol transport from peripheral cells to the liver.
