Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the G protein-coupled receptor family and one of four receptors for prostaglandin E2 (PGE2). It mediates receptor activity through a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system involving G-Q proteins. Mouse knockout studies indicate roles in pain mediation and blood pressure regulation, as well as adrenocorticotropic hormone response to bacterial endotoxin.
