Target Information
The 90 kDa heat shock protein (Hsp90) family of molecular chaperones is highly conserved and plays an important physiological role. Hsp90 is involved in numerous cellular processes, particularly signal transduction.
TRAP1, a homolog of Hsp90, is associated with various proteins involved in diverse cellular actions. Immunofluorescence studies show TRAP1 localized in the mitochondria of mammalian cells, suggesting that TRAP1 functions as a mitochondrial matrix protein with a targeting presequence.
