Target Information
This gene belongs to a conserved family of genes sharing a common DNA-binding T-box domain. T-box genes encode transcription factors involved in developmental regulation. The TBX2 gene product is the human homolog of mouse Tbx2, showing strong similarity with Drosophila omb protein. Studies suggest a potential role in tumorigenesis as an immortalizing agent. Transcript heterogeneity due to alternative polyadenylation has been observed.
