Target Information
The G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily includes approximately 600–1,000 members and represents the largest known class of molecular targets with therapeutic relevance.
GPR17 is an orphan G protein-coupled receptor involved in the regulation of oligodendrocyte differentiation and myelination in the central nervous system.
It is expressed in the brain, kidney, heart, and umbilical vein endothelial cells.
GPR17 exhibits dual specificity for uracil nucleotides and cysteinyl leukotrienes and signals through G(i) to inhibit adenylyl cyclase.
It may mediate brain damage by nucleotides and cysteinyl leukotrienes following ischemia.
