Target Information
ARAP2, also known as Centaurin-delta-1, is a protein containing ARF-GAP, RHO-GAP, ankyrin repeat, RAS-associating, and pleckstrin homology domains. It functions as a phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-trisphosphate-dependent GTPase-activating protein that binds to RhoA-GTP but lacks RHO-GAP catalytic activity. ARAP2 modulates actin cytoskeleton remodeling by regulating ARF and RHO family members. It is typically activated by PtdIns(3,4,5)P3 binding and can also be activated by PtdIns(3,4)P2 binding with lower efficiency. ARAP2 associates with focal adhesions and functions downstream of RhoA to regulate focal adhesion dynamics. Expression is observed in brain, thymus, lymph node, thyroid, spinal cord, trachea, heart, skeletal muscle, spleen, kidney, liver, placenta, lung, and peripheral blood leukocytes.
