GDPD2 단백질은 glycerophosphoinositol inositolphosphodiesterase 활성을 가지며, glycerophosphoinositol을 특이적으로 가수분해합니다. 다른 기질(glycerophosphoinositol 4-phosphate, glycerophosphocholine, glycerophosphoethanolamine, glycerophosphoserine)에 대해서는 활성이 없습니다. 또한 골아세포 분화 및 성장 프로그램을 가속화하며, actin 세포골격 재구성에 관여할 수 있습니다.
