Target Information

UBQLN2 encodes an ubiquitin-like protein (ubiquilin) that shares high similarity with homologs in yeast, rat, and frog.
Ubiquilins contain:

• N-terminal ubiquitin-like domain
• C-terminal ubiquitin-associated domain

They associate with proteasomes and ubiquitin ligases, linking the ubiquitination machinery to the proteasome to regulate protein degradation.
UBQLN2 also binds the ATPase domain of the Hsp70-like Stch protein.
