Target Information
The ACADL gene encodes a member of the acyl-CoA dehydrogenase family, a group of mitochondrial flavoenzymes involved in fatty acid and branched-chain amino acid metabolism.
ACADL catalyzes the initial step of mitochondrial beta-oxidation of straight-chain fatty acids.
Defects in ACADL cause long-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase (LCAD) deficiency, which can lead to nonketotic hypoglycemia.
