Target Information
Beta Galactosidase는 glycosyl hydrolase 35 패밀리에 속하는 단백질로, 다양한 전사 변이체를 생성하며, 성숙한 리소좀 효소로 가공된다. 이 효소는 ganglioside 기질 및 기타 glycoconjugate에서 말단 β-결합된 galactose 잔기의 가수분해를 촉매한다.
GLB1 유전자의 변이는 GM1-gangliosidosis 및 Morquio B 증후군과 관련되어 있다. 관련 질환으로는 GM1-Gangliosidosis Type I 및 Type II가 있다.
