Target Information
Probable RNA/DNA helicase involved in diverse aspects of RNA metabolism and genomic integrity. Plays a role in transcription regulation by modulating RNA Polymerase II (Pol II) binding to chromatin and through interaction with transcription-related proteins (PubMed:19515850, PubMed:21700224). Contributes to mRNA splicing efficiency and splice site selection (PubMed:19515850). Required for resolution of R-loop RNA-DNA hybrids at G-rich pause sites downstream of the poly(A) site, enabling XRN2 recruitment and efficient RNA Pol II transcription termination (PubMed:19515850, PubMed:21700224, PubMed:26700805). Involved in 3’ transcriptional termination of PER1 and CRY2, important for circadian rhythm regulation. Participates in DNA double-strand break response induced by oxidative stress (PubMed:17562789), and with RRP45, targets the RNA exosome complex to transcription-induced DNA damage sites (PubMed:24105744). Essential for male meiosis and gene silencing during meiotic sex chromosome inactivation (MSCI). May regulate telomeric stability via TERRA transcription (PubMed:21112256). Plays a role in neurite outgrowth in hippocampal cells through FGF8 signaling and inhibits retinoic acid-induced apoptosis (PubMed:21576111).
