Target Information
Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological roles. Evidence suggests that many kallikreins are involved in carcinogenesis and may serve as biomarkers for various diseases. The KLK8 gene is part of a kallikrein gene cluster on chromosome 19 and may play a role in proteolytic cascades in the skin. It has potential as a biomarker for ovarian cancer. Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
