Thromboxane synthase (TBXAS1) is a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily, involved in the conversion of prostaglandin H2 to thromboxane A2, a potent vasoconstrictor and platelet aggregation inducer.
It plays a role in hemostasis, cardiovascular disease, and stroke.
Alternative splicing results in multiple isoforms.
