ACCN1 유전자는 degenerin/epithelial sodium channel (DEG/ENaC) 초패밀리에 속하는 단백질을 암호화합니다.
이 패밀리의 구성원은 amiloride-민감성 나트륨 채널로, 세포 내 N 및 C 말단, 두 개의 소수성 막관통 영역, 그리고 보존된 시스테인 간격을 가진 큰 세포외 루프를 포함합니다.
이 단백질은 신경전달 과정에 관여할 수 있으며, ACCN3 (variant 1)과의 이합체 결합을 통해 gadolinium에 민감한 proton-gated channel을 형성할 수 있음이 보고되었습니다.
