Target Information
SRC is a cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase and proto-oncogene involved in the regulation of embryonic development and cell growth. It associates with cell surface receptors to facilitate signal transduction and participates in cytoskeletal organization, cell cycle regulation, and apoptosis. In humans, SRC is located on chromosome 20. Its activity is regulated by phosphorylation at Tyr416 (activation) and Tyr527 (inhibition). Mutations in SRC may be implicated in colon cancer progression. Two transcript variants encoding the same SRC protein have been identified.
