Target Information
CD55 (decay-accelerating factor, DAF) is a GPI-anchored membrane glycoprotein that protects autologous cells from classical and alternative complement pathways. It interacts bidirectionally with CD97, contributing to T cell regulation and complement control. In tumors, CD55 is associated with neoangiogenesis, tumorigenesis, invasiveness, and apoptosis evasion. CD55 is a 70 kDa glycoprotein anchored via a glycosylphosphatidylinositol tail and carries Cromer-related blood group antigens. Two alternatively spliced transcripts exist: one encoding a membrane-bound form and another encoding a soluble form found at lower levels. CD55 has been implicated in prostate cancer growth and survival.
