For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments using this carrier-free antibody, perform an additional desalting step (e.g., Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

The cystatin superfamily includes proteins with multiple cystatin-like sequences. Some act as cysteine protease inhibitors, while others lack this activity.
There are three inhibitory families: type 1 cystatins (stefins), type 2 cystatins, and kininogens. Type 2 cystatins are cysteine proteinase inhibitors found in various human fluids and secretions.
The CST4 gene, located within the cystatin locus on chromosome 20, encodes a type 2 salivary cysteine peptidase inhibitor. This S-type cystatin is highly expressed in saliva, tears, and seminal plasma, showing antibacterial and antiviral activity consistent with a protective function.
