Description

Viva columns are based on a wide-pore material designed for optimal large-molecule separations. Many commercial wide-pore silicas meet the standard 300 Å mean pore size but have broad distributions, with a significant portion of pore volume below 150 Å. This reduces accessible surface area for large molecules. Viva columns maintain a narrow pore size distribution, maximizing silica surface availability for effective separation.

Since 2005, the Restek Biphenyl phase has offered greater dispersion than conventional phenyls and higher polarizability than phenyl hexyls, providing enhanced selectivity and usability. These interactions result in increased retention for dipolar, unsaturated, or conjugated solutes and improved orthogonal selectivity in methanol mobile phases. Ideal for LC-MS applications requiring high sensitivity and selectivity.
